This month’s plant spotlight is —the beautiful Juniper Bonsai. While I haven’t had this little one for very long, it holds a meaningful place in my plant journey.
Believe it or not, a juniper bonsai was the very first plant I ever purchased. At the time, I didn’t fully understand its needs or how to properly care for it. Sadly, that first bonsai didn’t survive. But I never lost hope.
Fast-forward six years later—and here I am, giving it another go. With more knowledge, patience, and determination, I brought a new juniper bonsai home, and I’ve been absolutely loving the process of caring for it all over again.
Traditionally, juniper bonsai trees are best suited for the outdoors—they thrive in natural light and fresh air. It’s generally not recommended to keep them indoors for extended periods. But I’m taking a slightly different approach this time. While I understand the risks, I’m determined to care for my bonsai primarily indoors and give it occasional outdoor time for sun and fresh air. We’ll see how it goes.
A few fun facts about the juniper bonsai:
Junipers are evergreen conifers and symbolize strength, harmony, and resilience—perfect, right?
With proper care, juniper bonsai trees can live for decades—and some even thrive for over 100 years!
This time, I’m nurturing it with experience, love, and a bit of redemption.
