Candied Habanero Peppers
I have to give a special shoutout to my friend who encouraged me to be adventurous with my harvest of habanero peppers. I was absolutely clueless. She passed along a recipe for candied peppers and VOILA! I made a batch that was nothing short of delicious. I used the following recipe: http://www/foodiewithfamily.com/candied-jalapenos/. Although jalapeno peppers were used for the recipe, I found that the same recipe works just fine with habaneros. This recipe also called for the peppers to be jarred for 4 weeks. I stored them away for 4 weeks and was blown away by the results. The flavors from the candied peppers were taste bud awakening. Sweet honeyed spice is what comes to mind. The peppers kinda remind me of sweet chili sauce with some added kick. I made enough to fill 12 quarter pint sized jars, so I have plenty to share. So far I've added my candied peppers as a topping on buttermilk biscuits and as a dipping sauce for fried foods. You can also serve the candied peppers on a cracker with cream cheese, or as a topper on burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. Enjoy!
