Craving Mediterranean Food?
Updated: Nov 15
Every now and then, I get the most random cravings. A few months ago, during one of those spur-of-the-moment urges, I called my colleague with a sudden suggestion: “Let’s try Mediterranean food for lunch!” Excited by the idea, we both dove into a frantic online search for the perfect spot to satisfy my taste buds.
Our search led us to Casablanca Restaurant, a local gem in Memphis. Without hesitation, we made a beeline there during our lunch hour, fingers crossed that it wouldn’t be packed with other hungry diners.
Spoiler alert: it was packed. But the intoxicating aroma of spices wafting through the air was enough to make us stay. The rich, warm smells hinted at flavors too good to miss, so we waited patiently for our turn to indulge.
When it came time to order, I went all in with the Moroccan Soup—a hearty, comforting bowl brimming with chickpeas, lentils, parsley, cilantro, tomatoes, and pasta. To complement it, I couldn’t resist the Falafel, often called the “Big Mac of the Middle East.” Made with ground chickpeas, parsley, garlic, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and a perfect blend of spices, it was as flavorful as it was satisfying.
My colleague, however, opted for something a little closer to home—a classic Philly Cheesesteak. Though different in style, it didn’t disappoint, and we both left the restaurant raving about how delicious everything was.
If you’re looking to spice up your lunch routine or just want to try something new, I highly recommend checking out Casablanca Restaurant. You can find them online at casablancamemphis.com or on Instagram @casablancamem. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!
