My Little Garden: 2022 Edition

Updated: Apr 8

I haven't really posted about my little garden this year, so here's an update. I decided to expand my little garden to include (2) boxes. Just for clarity, these are not raised garden boxes since I planted directly into the ground. I did, however include a mixture of top soil, garden soil, and fertilizer with the natural soil from the ground. This year I wanted to expand in order to grow a few viney fruits. Here's what my garden included: Cherokee purple tomatoes, (2)cherry tomatoes, pineapple tomatoes, lettuce, kale, long stalk broccoli, strawberries, baby carrots, (2) sweet potatoes, Thai chili peppers, ghost peppers, sweet heat peppers, Habanero peppers, beets, squash, cantaloupe, watermelon, eggplant, okra, oregano, poblano peppers, basil, mint (which appeared out of nowhere), chives, garlic, snap peas, cilantro, cayenne peppers, and a lemon tree. This year my gardening experience was slightly different. I experienced new challenges that will definitely cause for more preparation in the 2023.

Week 2

Month 1.5

Look at my harvests so far

By month 2 everything was going well until....

My veggies started disappearing. It's still a mystery what actually happened, but if I had to guess, I'd say it was a raccoon, mole, vole, or random neighbor (jk). I lost my baby carrots, sweet potatoes, garlic, and surprisingly my ghost peppers. It was really disheartening . After this happened, I started noticing all types of holes in both boxes. I also noticed that the sun was quite a bit harsher this year and some of my plant leaves took a hit.

Overall, my experience this year has been great. I've enjoyed the gardening journey and I hope to get better with my craft. Stay tuned for new harvest pics.
