Japanese Flavors Done Right at Umiya Sushi Memphis

Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of dining at Umiya Sushi Memphis, and it’s safe to say I loved everything about the experience. I’ll definitely be back soon.

Umiya is known for its perfect blend of traditional Japanese flavors and high-quality ingredients, offering a broad variety of sushi, sashimi, and authentic hibachi dishes. We opted for the all-you-can-eat menu, and it was incredibly fulfilling.

Upon entering, I was immediately impressed by the restaurant’s beautiful ambiance. With its traditional Japanese décor, Umiya felt lively yet welcoming—an ideal atmosphere for a relaxing evening. Our server was wonderful—attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to recommend some of the best items on the menu, all of which turned out to be fantastic choices.

For appetizers, we ordered clear soup, seaweed salad, crab wontons, and tempura jalapeños. Everything was delicious, but the crab wontons were a standout—I loved them so much I ordered four rounds!

For entrées, we sampled an impressive lineup:

Sweet Potato Roll, Eel Roll

Lexington Roll (Deep fried Snow crab, cream cheese, crawfish, topped with spicy mayo, & eel sauce

My personal favorite was the Split Rock Volcano Roll—an explosion of flavors and textures that I couldn’t get enough of.

For dessert, I went with the tempura banana paired with green tea ice cream. I wasn’t sure if the combination would work, but by then, I was so full I barely noticed. Needless to say, I got my money’s worth!

One thing to note: Umiya does have a strict sushi waste fee policy to discourage over-ordering and food waste. Thankfully, that wasn’t an issue for me—there wasn’t a crumb left on my plate!

Overall, Umiya Sushi Memphis was a 10/10 experience. I can't recommend it enough for anyone craving quality sushi in a beautiful setting.
